Heritage strives to be a spiritual family magnifying the Father, maturing in the Son, and spreading the message of reconciliation throughout our community and the world.
Our Worship Service is warm, vibrant, and focused on God. A full choir and praise band leads the congregation in singing a blend of traditional hymns and contemporary choruses. Dynamic preaching takes us into God’s Word and helps us apply its truths to our daily lives.
We are led by a body of lay and senior staff elders, as well as, by a team of full-time pastors. We see the Bible teaching leadership through a “plurality of Elders/Pastors” and we are structured accordingly. In addition to elders and pastors, the entire congregation has a vital role in ministering to one another and participating in all of the affairs of church-life.
Where’s do I go for information on Sunday?
Located just outside the Sanctuary, our Welcome Center exists to answer questions about our church family and provide directions to the nursery, children’s classrooms, adult classrooms, bathrooms, and coffee. More information on “What to expect” can be found here.
What programs do you have for children?
Heritage has a variety of ministers for children from birth to the sixth grade. Nursery is provided during Sunday School and the Worship Service and on Wednesday evenings. Older children enjoy graded Sunday School classes on Sunday morning, children’s choirs on Sunday evenings, and AWANAs each Wednesday evening. Vacation Bible School and All Star Kids Camp take place every summer. Our facilities are clean, safe, and fully supervised by caring adults.
What programs do you have for teenagers?
The Heritage Student Ministry provides many opportunities for students to grow in their faith, build relationships, serve the church and the community, and reach out to those who haven’t heard of the love of Christ. Sunday morning Blitz is a large-group gathering for worship and Wednesday evening HUDDLE is an age-graded, small group discipleship time. There are also SLT and TEAM groups meeting regularly on Sunday evenings.
How is Heritage structured?
The Lord Jesus Christ is the ultimate authority of this church, and Scripture is the standard which governs our practices. Our leadership structure is patterned after the New Testament church where a plurality of mature, Scripturally qualified elders are assigned the responsibility to oversee, guide, lead and guard the church of God with a servant attitude. We believe the terms “elder”, “overseer” and “pastor” are synonymous. The governing elder body, some of whom fill church vocational roles, others non-vocational roles are assigned the responsibility to oversee the body at Heritage.
How does someone become a member?
While anyone is welcome to attend our services, only those who have trusted in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, have been baptized by immersion after their profession of faith in Christ, and affirm our statement of beliefs may become a member of the Heritage Family. Simply pick up a Membership Packet at the Welcome Center, complete the Membership Application, and attend the next Membership Matters Course.
Is Heritage affiliated with a denomination?
Heritage is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention and the Capital Baptist Association. Like all Southern Baptist churches, Heritage is independently governed but cooperates for the purpose of local and world-wide missions.
