The music ministry at Heritage Baptist Church consists of worshipers – of all ages, races, skill levels, styles, and preferences – who want to worship God by using their musical gifts to invite others to worship God.
Who We Are
We believe that though our task is incredibly important, it is not complex. We’re not there to perform or impress, we’re not an elitist club, we’re not unique from any other ministry in the church – we’re simply saved sinners using our spirit-born gifts to worship God and serve his church.
What Does it Look Like?
Our goal in this task is to “let the Word of Christ dwell in us richly” (Colossians 3:16) both in our content and our form. Because of that, we seek to incorporate a lot of Scripture in our services. We try to let it fill our songs, prayers, readings, sermons, and conversations. We also try to let the shape of the Scriptures–the Gospel–be the shape of our services. We begin by praising God for who he is, then move into acknowledgement of how we and our world fall short of his glory, then we celebrate what Christ has done to fix everything, and we end by looking forward to his return and how we should be living our lives until that day.
Heritage Baptist Church is a family and, as such, we want to act like one (warts and all). There’s a place for everyone. It doesn’t matter your age, race, style, skill level, instrument, whether you play by ear or only read music, whether you wear skinny jeans or slacks, whether you’re available every week or only once a year. If you would like to participate in our shared task of inviting others to worship God, please consider using your musical talents here at Heritage.
